Practice site and information: - We will meet in the shed by the track everyday for practice - Water is provided however it is recommended to bring water bottles, Gatorade, or any snacks wanted - Coaches purchase chocolate milk for post-practice but may ask for donations from runners to help with costs - All runners need first day is forms for participation, running shoes, athletic/runner clothes - Runners can park in gym lot by track/shed - Family can drop off runners right next to shed Meet Information: - All runners (Varsity/JV/Freshman) run at all meets EXCEPT Neenah/Finlan week the teams are split. Sectionals Meet is only Varsity (top 7 runners) - Varsity = Top 8 runners (usually) during the regular season and Top 7 runners are sectionals/state. This is determined based off of times but coaches can make determination also based in injury, ACT testing, or other variables - JV = The rest of the runners! - There are NOT CUTS from cross country - Every race is 5000 meters (5k) or 3.1 miles - There are certain meets such as West Bend and Midwest where there is a different structure to the races (freshman/sophomore, etc) - Every week prior to a meet I send home a meet information or "scout" sheet that goes over all the information about the race/meet including location/address, medals, returning runners, teams to watch. It is quite indepth Transportation: We understand for some younger kids the transportation may be tough in summer. As coaches we need to weigh the pros/cons of practices. For example, many runners still work in the evenings in summer and also there are cooler temperatures for running in the morning. For those reasons we have chosen 8:30 and 1:00 practices the first week. Please consider posting on facebook site, twitter, or emailing upperclassmen parents/runners for assistance with rides. Many of the upperclassmen have been TERRIFIC at helping to transport runners this summer. Time Trial: The Time Trial on 8/21 is meant as a family event in order to "meet the team" but yet be able to see them race in the time trial. I have attached the time trial course and a time trial invitation. Please see below for more details - Runners meet at Red Smith School at 5:30 near splashpad area parking lot - Runners will prepare at park as if it is a race (Warmup, Accels, Spikes, etc) - The time trial has no bearing on the West Bend Invitational - There will be apparel to buy if parents would like and it is a great place for parents to connect about get togethers, etc - IMMEDIATELY following time trial there will be a get together at the home of Michael Kreuser Forms Please go to this site to get Preble Athletic forms to fill out before season (Eligibility, Hippa, physical): http://preble.gbaps.org/athletics/athletic_forms/ IF FORMS ARE NOT COMPLETED runners may be asked to not practice. We are NOT doing cards (as of now) but instead refocusing on the "Fun"draising run as our main form of fundraising: - "Fun"draising Run : This is a run in late September where runners will need to get "pledges" per mile of running for up to 1 hour of running OR bring in a $50 dollar buyout. This will be communicating in upcoming weeks. - Packers Kohl’s Signs 2019/202 Season : We need 6 volunteers for all packer home games to hand out Kohl’s signs.
